Those whom you call upon besides Allah cannot create even a fly. Even if they all gather together. Forget creating a fly, if a fly takes something away from them they cannot retrieve it from it. The seeker is weak, and the sought is also weak.

[Chapter Al-Hajj: 73]

They did not value Allah as is the right of valuing Him.

[Chapter Al-Hajj: 74]

The Thought of Abraham Peace Be Upon Him

He reflected. He saw the sun, the moon, the stars. When all had set, his heart cried out:

"Who is the Creator of all these? Whoever has created all of them, surely He is Allah alone."

Then he announced:

I have turned my face towards the One who has created the heavens and the earth, with sincere devotion. And I am not of those who associate partners with Allah.

[Chapter Al-An'am: 79]

On this very research and monotheism Allah said:

And when Abraham's Lord tested him with certain matters and he fulfilled them, He said: I am making you an Imam for the people.

[Chapter Al-Baqarah: 124]

He Broke the Idols

So Abraham peace be upon him broke their idols into pieces except the big one, so that they might return to it.

[Chapter Al-Anbiya: 58]

On their question he said:

Rather this big one did it. If they can speak then ask them.

[Chapter Al-Anbiya: 63]

The people replied without an answer:

So they returned to themselves and said: Indeed you are the wrongdoers.

[Chapter Al-Anbiya: 64]

When argument failed then the support of power was sought.

Safety Even in Fire

We said: O fire! Be cool and safe for Abraham.

[Chapter Al-Anbiya: 69]

Love has leapt without fear into the fire of Nimrod Intellect is absorbed in watching, while the roof's edge still remains

Hazrat Abraham peace be upon him did not only see Nimrod's fire but also endured the fire of trials, the fire of difficulties, the fire of solitude. In every fire Allah kept him cool.

The Idols of Today

  1. False idols of the customs and traditions of ancestors
  2. The idol of the self - my stubbornness, my honor
  3. The idols of wealth and status

Present truth with argument. When falsehood comes with power then emigrate from the self and falsehood and become only for Allah.

And say: Truth has come and falsehood has vanished. Surely falsehood is bound to vanish.

[Chapter Al-Isra: 81]

May Allah grant us the ability to remain firm on faith and truth. Ameen.
